The Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (Amendment) Act, 2002

(1) This Act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mat% Vaishno Devi University (Amendment) Act, 2002. (2) It shall come into force fmm the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.

In sub-section (2) of section 8 of the Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mata W s h n o Devi University Act, 1999 (hereinafter r e M to as, 'the principal Act'), fbr the words "conferring degrees" the wlords ''conferring degrees and at the meetings of the University's Executive Council and Academic Advisory Committee which he may himself wish to Gonvene r$d attend but without having a vote", shall be substituted.

In sub-section (2) of section 10 of the principal Act, for the brackets and words "(save when these authorities have acted in accordance with the h e r s conferred upon them under this Act, the Statutes or the Ordinances)" the words "which it pay, at its discretion, consider'to have special importance or significant implications warranting a review," shall be substituted.

After the proviso to section 27 of the principal Act, following proviso shall be added, namely :-

"Provided further that the Chancellor shall preside at the meeting of the First Executive Council and the First Academic Council and in his absence, the Vice-Chancellor shall preside.".

In clause (4) of Statute 3 of the Schedule to the principal Act, for the words "any authority" the words "any authority except the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board" shall be substituted.
