Constitution of Faculties.

(1) The Academic Council shall be the principal academic body of University and shall, subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations, co-ordinate and exercise general supervision and control over all academic policies of University. (2) The constitution of the Academic Council, the term of office of its members and its powers and functions shall be such, as may be prescribed by the Statutes. (1) Each Faculty shall consist of - (i) Dean of the Faculty (Chairperson); (ii) Chairperson of the Boards of Studies included in that Faculty; (iii) one Senior Professor from each Department on the basis of seniority by rotation; (iv) one Professor, one Associate professor and one Assistant professor or equivalent from each Department included in the Faculty by rotation according to seniority: Provided that wherever considered necessary, the Vice-Chancellor may on the recommendation of the Dean increase the number of members. (2) Members nominated shall hold office for two years: Provided that the Executive Council, at the request of the Academic Council, may increase the number of members of a Faculty. (3) The Registrar will be the Secretary of every Faculty. (4) Two-fifths of the members in each Faculty shall form the quorum.
