This Act amends the Haryana Lifts and Escalators Act, 2008. It defines an "emergency rescue device", which provides back-up power to lifts in high-rise buildings during a power failure for at least fifteen minutes so that the lift can descend, stop and open its doors at a floor. It makes related changes to the safety requirements for lifts.
