The Interest (Gujarat Extension) Act, 1961

Short title and extent.

1. (1) This Act may be called the Interest (Gujarat Extension) Act, 1961.
2. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Gujarat.

Extension of Act XXXII of 1839 to the whole of the State of Gujarat.

Repeal Repeal. On the commencement of this Act, the Interest Act, 1839 (XXXII of 1839) in its application to the Kutch area of the State of Gujarat shall stand repealed: Provided that such repeal shall not affect,—

1. (a) the previous operation of the Act so repealed, or
2. (b) any right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred under the Act so repealed, or
3. (c) any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against the Act so repealed, or
4. (d) any investigation, legal proceeding or remedy in respect of any such right, privilege, obligation, liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid, and any such investigation, legal proceeding or remedy may be instituted, continued or enforced and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed as if this Act had not been passed.
