The Inland Steam-Vessels (Gujarat Amendment) Act, 1961

Short title and commencement.—

1. (1) This Act may be called the Inland Steam-Vessels (Gujarat Amendment) Act, 1961.
2. (2) It shall come into force in the Saurashtra and Kutch areas of the State of Gujarat on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

Amendment of section 1 of Act I of 1917.— In section 1 of the Inland Steam-Vessels Act, 1917, in its application to the Saurashtra and Kutch areas of the State of Gujarat, in sub-section (2), for the words "to the whole of India except the territories which, immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in Part B States", the words "to the whole of the State of Gujarat" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 2 of Act I of 1917.—In section 2 of the Inland Steam-Vessels Act, 1917 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act"), in its application to the State of Gujarat, after clause (1), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:— (1A) "coastal shipping" means the carriage of passengers or goods in a ship by sea from one port or place in the State of Gujarat to another port or place in the State of Gujarat;

Amendment of section 5 of Act I of 1917.—In section 5 of the principal Act, in its application to the State of Gujarat,—

1. (1) for the words "No inland steam-vessel" the words "Subject to the provisions of section 5A, no inland steam-vessel" shall be substituted;
2. (2) for the words "the inland steam-vessel" the words "the inland steam-vessel" shall be substituted;
3. (3) for the proviso, the following shall be substituted, namely:— " Provided that the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that the provisions of this section shall not apply to any class of inland steam-vessels specified in the notification."

Amendment of section 19A of Act I of 1917.—In section 19A of the Indian Steam-vessels Act, 1917 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act"), in sub-section (1), for the words "the State Government", the word "the Government" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 19C of Act I of 1917.—In section 19C of the principal Act, for the words "the State Government" wherever they occur, the word "the Government" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 19D of Act I of 1917.—In section 19D of the principal Act, for the words "the State Government", the words "the State Government or the officer authorised by the State Government in this behalf" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 19G of Act I of 1917.—In section 19G of the principal Act, for the words "the State Government", the words "the State Government or the officer authorised by the State Government in this behalf" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 19L of Act I of 1917 Amendment of section 19L of Act I of 1917.—In section 19L of the principal Act, for the words "State Government", wherever they occur, the words "competent authority" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 19M of Act I of 1917.—In section 19M of the principal Act, for the words "State Government", wherever they occur, the words "competent authority" shall be substituted.

-1 13. Amendment of section 19N of Act I of 1917.—In section 19N of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for the word “thirty”, the word “sixty” shall be substituted.
