General198024 sections

The Gujarat Live-stock Improvement Act, 1980 regulates the breeding of livestock in designated areas of Gujarat to improve animal quality and prevent the spread of diseases. It applies to individuals who keep or own bulls, as well as designated livestock officers enforcing the law. Under this legislation, keeping a mature bull for breeding without a valid license is prohibited. Authorized officers can inspect bulls, refuse or revoke licenses for defective or diseased animals, and order or perform free castrations on unlicensed or unsuitable bulls. Violations carry monetary fines. By eliminating inferior genetic stock, the law aims to enhance livestock health and agricultural productivity across the state.
