This Act empowers the Gujarat State Government to take over electricity supply undertakings owned by licensees for the public interest. It applies to all such undertakings, including those previously subject to compulsory purchase notices. The State Government can issue an order declaring that an undertaking vests in it, with a minimum four-month notice period and a maximum one-year postponement, subject to specific conditions regarding loans or guarantees from the Government of India. Once vested, all assets, rights, and liabilities of the undertaking transfer to the State Government, effectively nationalizing the electricity supply business for the state.
