Statutory text
Registrar and Assistant Registrar to have powers of Civil Court.— For the purposes of sections 7 and 18, the Registrar, Assistant Registrar, and, as the case may be, the officer authorised under section 18 and for the purposes of section 16, the Registrar shall have and may exercise the same powers as are vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (Central Act 5 of 1908), in respect of the following matters:—
- (a) enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath;
- (b) compelling the production of documents and materials/objects;
- (c) issuing commissions for the examination of witnesses; and
- (d) proof of facts by affidavits.
