THE DELHI JAL BOARD ACT. 1998
The Delhi Water Board Act, 1998
This law establishes the Delhi Water Board to manage critical water infrastructure within the National Capital Territory. It regulates the supply of clean drinking water, sewage collection, disposal, and drainage systems to ensure public health and safety. The Board has the authority to collect charges and oversee the provision of these essential services throughout the capital, excluding areas governed by other municipal councils, though it includes surrounding cantonments. By centralizing water management responsibilities, the Act aims to provide systematic and regulated access to water resources, essential for the daily life and hygiene of Delhi's residents, while defining the powers of the administrative body tasked with these operations.
