The Delhi Teachers University Act, 2022
This Act establishes a statutory university dedicated to teacher education within the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It governs the creation, management, and academic operations of the institution, aiming to bridge gaps between practical teaching, research, and government policy. The body applies to all university teachers, including professors, associate professors, and assistant professors, as well as other designated academic staff. The University’s primary mission is to ensure excellence and equity in school education by preparing skilled, motivated educators. By centralizing teacher training in this manner, the Act seeks to address quality issues in Delhi's educational landscape effectively.
- 1. Short title, extent and commencement
- 2. This Act may be called the Delhi Teachers University Act, 2022.
- 3. This Act shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act.
- 5. “Campus” means the unit established or constituted by the University for making arrangements for instruction of research, or both;
- 7. "Chancellor", "Vice

- 15. “Statutes", "Ordinances" and "Regulations", mean respectively, the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University for the time being in force;
- 16. "University" means the Delhi Teachers University as incorporated under this Act; and
- 17. "University teachers" means Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and such other persons as may be
- 18. Appointment, powers and duties of the Officers of the University The manner of appointment, emoluments, powers and
- 19. Such other authorities as may be declared by the Statutes to be the authorities of the University.
- 20. Any vacancy in the Court shall be filled by nomination by the respective nominating authority and on expiry of the
- 21. In case the authority concerned fails to take a decision the matter shall be referred to the Chancellor, whose decision shall be final.
- 22. Powers, functions and meetings of the Board of Management
- 23. In case the authority concerned fails to take a decision, the matter shall be referred to the Chancellor, whose decision shall be final.
- 24. The term of the members of the Academic Council, other than ex-officio members, shall be three years.
- 25. In case the authority concerned fails to take a decision, the matter shall be referred to the Chancellor, whose decision shall be final.
- 26. In case of difference of opinion among the members, the opinion of the majority of the members present shall prevail.
- 27. Planning Board
- 28. The constitution of the Planning Board, the term of office of its members and its powers and functions shall be such as may be prescribed.
- 29. Board of Studies
- 30. Provided that the above functions of a Board of Studies shall, during the period of three years immediately after the commencement this Act be performed by the School.
