Bare Act
The Delhi Lokayukta and Uplokayukta Act, 1995
This Act establishes the Delhi Lokayukta and Uplokayukta as independent anti-corruption authorities that investigate complaints of misconduct and corruption among government officials and elected representatives in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The Act defines public officials subject to oversight, including ministers, legislators, members of municipal corporations, and heads of public corporations. These ombudsman officers, appointed with approval from high authorities, can conduct investigations and recommend actions when public officials fail to adhere to ethical standards, abuse their positions, or act with corrupt motives. By holding power holders accountable for integrity violations, the Act promotes transparency, reduces corruption within the Delhi government, and maintains public trust in the administration.
