4. Appointment of Wild Life Preservation Officer, Game Wardens and other Game Officers

Authorities to be appointed or constituted under the Act
- (1) The Government of Goa, Daman and Diu may for the purposes of this Act appoint, (a) The Wild Life Preservation Officer for the whole of Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu;
- (b) The Game Wardens, either honorary or stipendiary;
- (c) Such other officers and servants as may be necessary.
- (2) The honorary Game Warden shall ordinarily hold office for a period of three years: Provided that the Government of Goa, Daman and Diu may terminate his tenure of office at any time without assigning any reason.
- (3) The Game Wardens and other officers and servants appointed under this section shall be subordinate to the Wild Life Preservation Officer.

5. Delegation of Powers by Wild Life Preservation Officer
Statutory text
The Wild Life Preservation Officer may, with the approval of the Government of Goa, Daman and Diu by order in writing, delegate any of his powers and duties under any of the provisions of this Act to any officer subordinate to him, subject to such conditions, if any, as may be specified in the order.

6. Duties of Wild Life Preservation Officer

It shall be the duty of the Wild Life Preservation Officer to advise the Government of Goa, Daman and Diu through the Conservator of Forests, (1) in the selection of areas to be declared as Game Sanctuaries;
- (2) in formulating the policy in granting licences and permits under this Act and administration of Game Sanctuaries;
- (3) in the matter of framing rules under section 43; and
- (4) on any other matter connected with the preservation and protection of animals and birds which may be referred to it by the Government of Goa, Daman and Diu.
