Short title, extent, commencement and application.

  1. (1) This Act may be called the Madhya Pradesh Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1964.
  2. (2) It extends to the whole of Madhya Pradesh.
  3. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint.
  4. (4) Nothing in this Act shall apply to protected areas and protected monuments as defined in clauses (i) and (j), respectively of section 2 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 (No. 24 of 1958).
