1. Short Title, Extent and Commencement

Short Title, Extent and Commencement:-
- (1) This Act may be called Bihar State Women Commission (Amendment) Act, 2024.
- (2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of Bihar.
- (3) This Act shall come into force immediately on publication in official gazette.
2. Amendment in section 3 of Bihar Act 6,1999

Amendment in section 3 of Bihar Act 6,1999.- In chapter II of the said act sub
section
- (3) shall be added after sub section
- (2) of section 3 in following manner:- “3
- (i) With effect from the date of enforcement of the present amending Act, the existing Bihar State Women Commission shall stand dissolved.
- (ii) On dissolution of Bihar State Women Commission, the State Government shall appoint an administrator to manage the affairs of the Commission. The Administrator of the Commission shall not be below the rank of Secretary to the Government.
- (iii) The State Government shall have the authority to issue directions/ advisory to the Administrator and such directions/advisory shall be binding on the Administrator.”
3. Amendment in section 4 of Bihar Act 6,1999

3 shall be added after sub section 2 of section 4 as follows:- 4
- (3) Notwithstanding prescribed tenure of the Commission, the state Government shall have power to dissolve the Commission at anytime if it issatisfied that dissolution is in the larger public interest to make the functioning of the Commission in consistent with the aim and object of the

Addition of section 14(A) after section 14 of Bihar Act 6,1999 Addition of section 14(A) after section 14 of Bihar Act 6,1999.- In chapter IV A new Section 14A shall be added after Section 14 as follows:- “14A
- (i) After the dissolution of the Commission, during the interregnum State Government shall constitute a committee of experts to suggest measures to be adopted for re- structuring and re-organizing the functioning of Bihar State Women Commission. The Committee shall consist of five members at least one of which, would have extensive knowledge of management of various legal provisions dealing with women.
- (ii) The Committee of experts shall submit a report to the State Government within one month. The State Government may accept the recommendations of the Committee of the experts subject to such modification as may deemed necessary in the interest of women.
- (iii) On acceptance of the recommendation made by the Committee of experts, the State Government shall endeavour to implement the same by making such orders/notification/resolution as may be deemed fit and proper.
- (iv) On completion of one month as provided in section 14 A(ii) above, the State Government shall constitute Bihar State Women Commission within maximum period of two months under Section 3 of the Act.”
