Bare Act
The Bihar State Advocates’ Welfare Fund Act, 1983
This legislation establishes a dedicated financial support system for legal professionals practicing in Bihar, administered by the State Bar Council and a government-appointed committee. It applies specifically to advocates currently registered on the State Roll, while also providing for the dependents of deceased members and retired advocates. The Act details how the fund operates using contributions from the government, legal bodies, donations, and insurance proceeds. This is significant because it creates a crucial safety net, ensuring that junior members and the families of retired or deceased advocates receive necessary assistance despite often lacking formal retirement benefits typical of other government employees.
