This Act creates a single Fire Service for the whole of Bihar and regulates fire fighting and fire safety. It sets up the Service under the Director of Fire Service, with fire divisions and sub-divisions, and governs appointments, ranks and service conditions of fire officers, who are always considered on duty. It gives the Director powers to enforce fire prevention and fire safety measures in buildings and premises.
