Definitions

Definitions. — In this Bill, unless the context otherwise requires.

1. (1) ‘Academic Council' means the Academic Council of the University;
2. (2) 'Affiliated Institution' means an institution affiliated by the University;
3. (3) 'Affiliation' means affiliation granted by the University in accordance with the Statutes and Regulations made for the purpose;
4. (4) 'All India Council for Technical Education' (A.I.C.T.E.) means Council constituted under All India Council for Technical Education Act, 1987 (Central Act 52 of 1987);
5. (5) ‘Chancellor' means the Chancellor of the University;
6. (6) ‘Chief Minister’ means Chief Minister of the State of Bihar;
7. (7) ‘College’ means a college teaching courses leading to a Bachelor or Higher degree in Engineering and Technology;
8. (8) ‘Courses’ means courses as approved by All India Council for Technical Education and other concerned Apex Regulatory Body;
9. (9) ‘Employee’ means any person appointed by the University;
10. (10) ‘Executive Council’ means the Executive Council of the University;
11. (11) ‘Finance Committee’ means the Finance Committee of the University;
12. (12) ‘General Council” means General Council of the University;
13. (13) ‘Government' means the Government of Bihar;
14. (14) ‘Institution’ means an academic institution or a college imparting education in the field of Engineering and Technology leading to a Bachelor or Higher degree;
15. (15) 'Misconduct' means a misconduct prescribed by the Statutes;
16. (16) 'Notification' means a notification published in the official Gazette;
17. (17) ‘Principal’ means the Head of a College/Institute and includes, where there is no Principal, the person who is for the time being duly appointed to act as the Principal;
18. (18) 'Reservation in admissions' means the reservation in admission defined under section 8 of this Bill;
19. (19) ‘Screening committee’ means the committee as constituted under section 11
20. (3) of this Bill;
21. (20) ‘Statutes’ and 'Regulations' mean respectively the Statutes and Regulations of the University for the time being in force;
22. (21) ‘Technical Education’ means the Technical Education as defined by A.I.C.T.E;
23. (22) ‘University’ means the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science as incorporated under this Bill;
24. (23) ‘University Grants Commission' (U.G.C.) means the Commission established under Section- 4 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Central Act 3 of 1956);
25. (24) ‘University Review Commission’ means the commission defined under section- 35 of this Bill;
26. (25) 'Vice-Chancellor' means the Vice-Chancellor of the University;
