Bare Act
The Arunachal Pradesh Public Libraries Act 2009
This legislation establishes, maintains, and modernizes a comprehensive public library network across Arunachal Pradesh. It applies to government departments, public library staff, educational institutions, and residents throughout the state. The statute creates a dedicated Department of Public Libraries, a State Library Planning Committee, and a tiered library system ranging from a central state library down to district, block, and circle levels. It mandates library service standards, staff qualifications, mandatory library enrolment for eighth-grade students, and dedicated public development funds. By promoting reading habits, publishing useful literature, and expanding mobile and accessible library services, this Act ensures equitable access to knowledge and educational resources for all citizens.
