The Arunachal Pradesh Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 1989
The Arunachal Pradesh Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 1989
This Act amends the central Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988 specifically for the state of Arunachal Pradesh. It modifies the qualifications required for appointing Special Judges who hear corruption cases involving public servants in the state. Under this amendment, a Deputy Commissioner who preferably has a legal background and sufficient judicial experience can be appointed as a Special Judge to try offences under the law. By broadening who can be appointed to preside over corruption trials, the Act ensures that special courts can function effectively in Arunachal Pradesh even when standard judicial appointments are limited, thereby facilitating timely anti-corruption proceedings.
