Appointment of Cane Commissioner

(1) The Director of Agriculture shall ex-officio be the Cane Commissioner for the purposes of this Act, provided that the Government may at any time appoint any other officer or person to be the Cane Commissioner. (2) The Cane Commissioner shall exercise and perform the powers and functions conferred or imposed upon him by or under this Act. When a registered cane grower commits a breach of agreement entered into by him with an occupier of a factory for the supply of cane to the factory, his name shall be liable to be removed from the register of cane growers maintained under Section 13 for a period of three crushing seasons and such removal shall be without prejudice to any other action to which he may be liable under this Act.
