Powers of prescribed authority
The Andhra Pradesh Housing Schemes (Acquisition of Land) Act, 1961(1) The prescribed authority may, with a view to carrying out the purposes of section 5 or section 7, by order, require any person to furnish such information in his possession relating to any land which is acquired under this Act as may be specified in such order. (2) The prescribed authority shall, while holding an inquiry under this Act, have all the powers of a civil court, while trying a suit, under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (Central Act 5 of 1908), in respect of the following matters, namely:- (a) summoning and enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath; (b) requiring the discovery and production of any document; (c) reception of evidence on affidavits; (d) requisitioning any public record from any court or office; and .Central Act I of 1894 is repealed and the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (Central Act 30 of 2013) is in force. (e) issuing commissions for examination of witnesses.
