The Andhra Pradesh Housing Schemes (Acquisition of Land) Act, 1961
The Andhra Pradesh Housing Schemes (Acquisition of Land) Act, 1961 regulates how the state government acquires specific private lands to build public housing. It applies to the Andhra Pradesh government, the state housing board, and the private landholders whose properties are listed in the law's schedule. This legislation matters because it empowers the government to quickly secure land for public development projects while protecting citizens' rights. It guarantees that affected property owners receive legally defined compensation, paid with interest if payments are delayed, and provides a clear civil court process to resolve any disputes over funding or land ownership.
