Term of office and conditions of service of Chairperson and members
The Uttarakhand Schedule Caste Comission(1) Every member shall hold office for a period of three years from the date he assumes office. (2) Any member may at any time resign his office by a writing under his hand addressed to the State Government. (3) The State Government shall remove a person from the office of member if that person: (a) becomes an undischarged insolvent; (b) is convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for any offence which, in the opinion of the State Government, involves moral turpitude; (c) becomes of unsound mind and is so declared by a competent court; (d) refuses to act or becomes incapable of acting; (e) remains absent from three consecutive meetings of the Commission without permission to be absent from the Commission; or (f) in the opinion of the State Government, misuses the position of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson or member in such a manner that the person's remaining in office is detrimental to the interests of Scheduled Castes or public interest: Provided that no person shall be removed under this clause unless he has been given an opportunity of being heard in the matter. (4) Any vacancy occurring under sub-section (2) or otherwise shall be filled by a new appointment. (5) The salary and allowances payable to the members and other terms and conditions of their service shall be such as may be prescribed.
