The Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Act, 2025

(1) This Act may be called the Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Act, 2025. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the 6th day of February, 2025.

In the Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1983, after section 12, the following new section shall be inserted, namely:- 12-A. (1) The Director shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of Sixty-five years, whichever is earlier; (2) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Act, a Director who has not attained the age of Sixty-five years may be granted an additional tenure not exceeding three years, by the Visitor: Provided that the Director may by writing under his hand addressed to the Visitor resign from his office, and shall cease to hold his office upon the acceptance by the Visitor of such resignation.

(1) The Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the provisions of the principal Act as amended by the Ordinance referred to in sub-section (1) shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act as amended by this Act as if the provisions of this Act were in force at all material times.
