The Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Seventh Amendment) Act, 2024

(1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Seventh Amendment) Act, 2024. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the 14th day of November, 2024.

In the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, in clause (aa) of section 2, after sub-clause (iii), the following sub-clause shall be inserted, namely:- "(iv) a society or public trust or company registered under an Act of other States."

(1) The State Government may, for the purpose of removing any difficulty in respect of the provisions made by this Act, by order published in the Gazette, direct that the provisions of the principal Act shall during such period, as may be specified in the order, have effect subject to such adaptations, whether by way of modification, addition or omission, as it may deem necessary or expedient: Provided that no such order shall be made after two years from the date of commencement of this Act. (2) Every order made under sub-section (1) shall be laid before both Houses of the State Legislature as soon as may be after it is made.

(1) The Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Ninth Amendment) Ordinance, 2024 is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the provisions of the principal Act as amended by the Ordinance referred to in sub-section (1) shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act, as amended by this Act as if the provisions of this Act were in force at all material times.

In the principal Act, in section 7(A), the following proviso shall be inserted at the end, namely : "Provided that, acting under the provisions of the University Grants Commission (Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India) Regulations, 2023, the foreign higher educational institution may establish „campus‟ in the State. The provisions of the above mentioned regulations shall be complied with by the foreign higher educational institution."
