The Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta and Up-Lokayuktas (Amendment) Act, 2024

(1) This Act may be called the Uttar .. Pradesh Lokayukta and Up-Lokayuktas (Amendment) Act , 2024. (2) It shall come into force with effect from the date of its publication in the official Gazette. (3) The amendments made under this Act shall not apply to the Lokayuktas and Up-Lokayuktas appointed before the date of commencement of this Act.

In section 5 of the Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta and Up- Lokayuktas Act, 1975, for the existing sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely :- "(1) Every person appointed as the Lokayukta or Up-Lokayukta shall hold office for a term of five years or upto the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier: Provided that the Lokayukta or an Up-Lokayukta shall, notwithstanding the expiration of his term continue to hold office until his successor enters upon his office: Provided further that, — (a) the Lokayukta or an Up-Lokayukta may, by writing under his hand addressed to the Governor, resign his office; (b) the Lokayukta or an Up-Lokayukta may be removed from office in the manner specified in section 6. "
