The Salaries and Allowances of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Commissioners of the Agartala Municipality Act, 1979
1. Short title and extent
(1) This Acl [nay bc called the Salaries and Allo\vances of thc Chairman, Vice-chairman otid thc Commissioners of the Agartali1 Municipality Acl, 1978. (2) 111 this Act, unless the conrexl otherwise on and horn thc clcvenrh day of July, 1978.
2. Definitions
111 this Act, un1ess rhe context otllcnvise requires - (a) 'Ch;~il-man' means the Chajrman of thc Agartala Municipality : (b) 'Com~nissioner' means a Commissioner of the Agarlala Municipality bur shall no1 includc thc Chairman or Vice-Chair~nan ; (c) 'Sitting' Inca ns thc Commissioners at nleeri ng as rcquired ~ ~ n d e l - various provisions oP Bengnl Municipal Act. 1932 ;IS extendcd to Tripura for carrying out thc various pill-poses of the said Act ; (d) 'Vice-Chairnlun' means the V i c e - C h a i r n ~ a ~ ~ of the Agartala Municipality ;
3. Salary and allowances of the Chairman

(i) Salary Rs. 1000.00 per month. ( i i ) Allowanccs Rs. 250.00 pcr ~nonth.
4. Salary and allowances of the Vice-Chairman
The Vicc-Chairmiin shall be entitlcd lo salary and nllownnces including his j~cnsions, if any, during the whole of his tc1.111 of office as a speci ficd bclow -
Explalration : - For the purpose of this section 'Pcnsion' means only such pensions as may be admissible to a person for his past enlployinen t undcl- thc Cenlral Go\lernnlcnt or the Stare Government or any Local Authority.
(i) Salary Rs. 400.00 per month. (ii) Allowances Rs. 100.00 per month.
5. Compensatory and Daily Allowances of Commissioners
Every commissionein shall bc cnti tled to receive a Conlpensatory Allowances of Rs. 250.00 per i~lonrh and sitting alloiva~iccs of Rs. 45.00 iuin each day silting of the Commissioners.
6. Chairman and Vice-Chairman not to practise any profession
Thc Chairman and rhc Vice-Chilil-man shall not practise nny profession or engage in any tntde or. business or teceive any rnoncy for and ernploy~nent other Lha11 thc duties as [he Chairman or- the Vice-Chnirrnirn, as the case may be.
7. Notification of appointment of Chairman and Vice-Chairman to be conclusive evidence thereof
The date on which any person became or ceased to be the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman as the case may be, shall be published in the Official Gazette and any such notification shall have conclusive evidence of the fact that he became or ceased to be the Chairman or the Vice-chairman, as the case may be, on that date for all the purposes of this Act.
8. Repeal and savings
(1) The Salaries and Allowances of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Commissioner of the Agartala Municipality Ordinance, 1978 is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done, any action taken, any notification published, powers conferred, forms prescribed, orders, rules and appointments made under the said Ordinance, shall be deemed respectively to have been done, taken, published, conferred, prescribed or made under the corresponding provisions of this Act.
9. Medical facilities
The Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Commissioners of Agartala Municipality shall be entitled to such medical facilities as the State Government may prescribe.
10. Power to make Rules
(1) The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules to carry out the purposes of this Act.
(2) Every rule made under this Act shall be laid as soon as may be after it is made before the Legislative Assembly while it is in session for a total period of not less than fourteen days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions and if, before the expiry of the session in which it is so laid or the sessions aforesaid the Assembly makes any modification in the rule or decides that rule shall not be made the rule shall thereafter have effect only in such modified from or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of any thing previously done under that rule.
