The law establishes severe consequences for offenders, making ragging a cognizable and non-bailable crime punishable by up to four years in prison, fines, or both. Convicted students face mandatory expulsion. Additionally, the act provides for special courts to expedite trials and permits the eviction of accused students from student hostels during investigations.
