Bare Act
The Tripura Departmental Inquiries (Enforcement of Attendance of Witnesses and Production of Documents) Act, 1974
This Act empowers authorized inquiring authorities in Tripura to summon witnesses and require the production of documents during internal departmental inquiries. It applies to state public servants, as well as personnel serving in local authorities, state controlled corporations, government companies, and registered societies under state control. By granting investigating officers powers equivalent to a civil court to gather evidence and examine witnesses under oath, the law strengthens the state's ability to investigate misconduct, bribery, and corruption. This legislation ensures that administrative disciplinary proceedings are effective, legally enforceable, and held accountable while protecting sensitive confidential banking documents.
