This Act declares the Indian Council of World Affairs, a think tank on international relations and foreign policy, an institution of national importance. It incorporates the Council as a body corporate, transfers to it the assets of the society that ran it before, and sets out how it is composed and governed. The Vice-President of India is its President. The Council promotes the study of India's foreign relations and world affairs through research, publications, lectures and exchanges, and receives funding from the Central Government.
