The Indian Treasure-Trove (Extension to the Hyderabad and Saurashtra Areas of Bombay State) Act, 1957
1. Short title.
This Act may be called the Indian Treasure-Trove (Extension to the Hyderabad and Saurashtra Areas of Bombay State) Act, 1957.
2. Extension of Central Act 6 of 1878 to Hyderabad and Saurashtra areas of Bombay State.
The Indian Treasure-Trove Act, 1878 (6 of 1878), is hereby extended to, and shall be in force in, the Hyderabad and Saurashtra areas of the State of Bombay.
3. Amendment of section 3 of Central Act 6 of 1878.
In section 3 of the Indian Treasure-Trove Act, 1878 (6 of 1878), in its application to the whole of the State of Bombay, for the definition of "Collector", the following shall be substituted, namely:—
'"Collector" means—
(a) in the Hyderabad and Saurashtra areas of the State of Bombay, any officer appointed by the State Government to perform the functions of a Collector under this Act;
(b) in the rest of the State of Bombay, the chief officer in charge of the revenue administration of a district and includes any officer whom the State Government appoints to perform the functions of a Collector under this Act;'
4. 4. Repeal of Hyderabad Act 5 of 1358F and Saurashtra Act 39 of 1950.
On the commencement of this Act, the Hyderabad Treasure-Trove Act (Hyderabad Act No. V of 1358-F) and the Saurashtra Treasure-Trove Act, 1950 (Saurashtra Act No. XXXIX of 1950), shall stand repealed.
5. 5. Savings.
The repeal of the Acts aforesaid shall not affect— (a) the previous operation of any Act so repealed or anything duly done or suffered thereunder; (b) any right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred under any Act so repealed; (c) any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against any Act so repealed; or (d) any investigation, legal proceeding or remedy in respect of any such right, privilege, obligation, liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid; and any such investigation, legal proceeding or remedy may be instituted, continued or enforced, and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed, as if this Act had not been passed.
