The Telangana Relief, Undertakings (Special Provisions) Act, 1971
This Act empowers the state government of Telangana to declare specific industrial undertakings that are run, acquired, or financially assisted by the government as relief undertakings to prevent or alleviate unemployment. It applies to specified state-assisted or state-run industrial enterprises across Telangana. To keep struggling businesses operational and safeguard jobs, the law allows the government to temporarily suspend certain labour laws, employment contracts, and past legal liabilities or court proceedings against the undertaking for up to five years. This matters because it provides a safety net to protect employment by giving distressed industrial units temporary relief from regulatory and financial pressures.
