The Telangana Live-stock Improvement Act, 1940
The Telangana Live-stock Improvement Act, 1940, regulates the breeding of bulls to maintain high-quality cattle stock across the state of Telangana. It applies to individuals who keep or own bulls, as well as state livestock and agricultural officials. Under the law, keeping an uncastrated bull above a specified age requires a formal government license, which can be refused or revoked if the animal is diseased, genetically defective, or of an undesirable breed. Licensing officers are empowered to inspect bulls, enforce compulsory castration for unsuitable or unlicensed animals, and inspect premises. By eliminating poor breeding stock, the Act aims to improve rural agricultural productivity and livestock health.
