The Telangana Exhibition of Films on Television Screen through Video Cassette Recorders (Regulation) Act, 1993
The Telangana Exhibition of Films on Television Screen through Video Cassette Recorders (Regulation) Act, 1993
This Act regulates the commercial exhibition of films on television screens using video cassette recorders, VCDs, or DVDs, as well as the operation of video libraries and the business of buying, selling, renting, or recording video media across Telangana. It applies to individuals, businesses, and commercial venues engaging in these operations, while explicitly exempting private domestic viewing by households. The law matters because it establishes a strict licensing framework to ensure public safety, comfort, and order in screening venues, prevents unauthorized recording and video piracy, and empowers authorities to inspect premises, seize illegal equipment, and maintain regulatory oversight over commercial video distribution.
