Civil19915 sections
The Tamil Nadu Wakf Board (Appointment of Special Officer) Act, 1991 provides for the temporary administration of Islamic charitable endowments across Tamil Nadu. It immediately terminated the terms of office of all serving members and the chairman of the state Wakf Board upon its commencement. To ensure uninterrupted management, the law authorized the state government to temporarily take ownership of all Wakf Board properties and appoint a Muslim Special Officer for up to one year. This Special Officer assumes the full administrative powers and duties of the board until a new Wakf Board is formally reconstituted by the government.
