The Tambaram City Municipal Corporation Act, 2022
This Act establishes the Tambaram City Municipal Corporation to govern the city of Tambaram, replacing the previous municipality. It creates a corporate body with a Mayor, council, standing committee, wards committee, and commissioner to manage local administration. The council consists of elected councillors and other representatives, with a maximum of seventy-two members. The corporation operates for five years and has the power to acquire property and enter contracts. The Act also specifies that the Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act of 1920 no longer applies to this area, ensuring a dedicated legal framework for Tambaram's urban development and governance.
