Disqualification for membership.

- (1) No person shall be qualified for election as a member of any of the authorities of the University, if, on the date of nomination or election, he is—
- (a) of unsound mind, a deaf-mute or suffering from leprosy;
- (b) an applicant to be adjudicated insolvent or an undischarged insolvent;
- (c) sentenced by a criminal court to imprisonment for any offence involving moral turpitude.
- (2) In case of dispute or doubt the Syndicate shall determine whether a person
is disqualified under sub-section (1) and its decision shall be final.
1. This expression was substituted for the expression ―the Madurai University" by
section 4 of the Madurai University (Amendment and Special Provisions) Act, 1978
(Tamil Nadu Act No. 38 of 1978) which was deemed to have come into force on the
22nd July 1978.
2. This clause was inserted by the Madras University and Madurai-Kamaraj University (Amendment) Act, 1983 (Tamil Nadu Act No.46 of 1983).
