The Tamil Nadu Regulation of Admission in Professional Courses Act, 2006

General20214 sections

This Act provides a seven and a half percent reservation of government seats in undergraduate professional courses for students who studied in Tamil Nadu government schools from sixth to twelfth grade. It covers professional fields such as engineering, agriculture, veterinary science, fisheries science, and law across universities, government colleges, aided institutions, and private colleges. The law aims to address the socio-economic disadvantages faced by public school students by improving their access to higher professional education. Eligible students retain the right to compete for general seats as well, and existing state reservation rules continue to apply within this set-aside quota.
