This Act amends the Legal Practitioners Act of 1879 to protect legal professionals in Tamil Nadu from disciplinary action for holding or expressing non-violent political opinions. It specifically shields revenue agents and other practitioners from being punished for political beliefs or convictions for political offenses, such as sedition. Additionally, the law provides a one-year window for suspended or removed advocates, mukhtars, and revenue agents to apply to the High Court to have their disciplinary orders overturned if those orders were not legally valid under the new provisions.
- 1. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Bar Councils and Legal Practitioners (Inamil Nadu] Amendment) Act, 1947.
