Bare Act

The Tamil Nadu Rivers Conservancy Act, 1884

General188425 sections

This law empowers the state government to officially oversee the maintenance and cleaning of specific rivers throughout Tamil Nadu. The government can designate rivers for conservancy, authorize surveys to map their boundaries, and create detailed charts and records of the land surrounding the water. Before final approval is granted, these charts are displayed for public viewing so that local residents can raise objections and disputes. Once approved, the official river bed boundaries are established and marked, helping the state manage land rights and ensure proper usage of these water resources.
