Appeal against refusal of licence
The Tamil Nadu Public Buildings (Licensing) Act, 1965(1) Any person aggrieved by an order of the competent authority refusing to grant or to renew a licence or cancelling or suspending a licence, or in the case referred to in clause (ii) of sub-section (1) or of sub-section (2) of section 7, the applicant concerned, may, within such time as may be prescribed, appeal to such authority as the Government may specify in this behalf: Provided that such authority may, in its discretion, allow further time not exceeding one month for the filing of any such appeal, if it is satisfied that the appellant had sufficient cause for not filing the appeal in time. (2) On receipt of an appeal under sub-section (1), the appellate authority shall, after giving the appellant an opportunity of being heard, dispose of the appeal as expeditiously as possible. (3) The appellate authority may stay the operation of the order of the competent authority cancelling or suspending a licence, pending the exercise of its powers under this section.
