Bare Act
The Tamil Nadu Flood Affected Areas Cultivating Tenants (Temporary Relief) Act, 1986
Civil198610 sections
This act provides temporary legal relief specifically to cultivating tenants residing in flood-affected areas of Tamil Nadu. During its implementation, it bars landlords and public trusts from filing lawsuits or applying for orders to evict tenants who are behind on rent. Furthermore, the statute suspends normal legal time limits for these recovery cases. It also establishes rights allowing tenants who lost their agricultural holdings due to such actions between July 1984 and the Act's start to restore their possession of the land.
