Bare Act
The Tamil Nadu Enfranchised Inams Act, 1862
Civil18622 sections
This 19th-century legislation was designed to settle disputes and provide certainty regarding land titles for inhabitants of the Madras Presidency (now Tamil Nadu) who held land under "Inam" grants. It effectively standardized proof of ownership, ruling that a written title-deed or an official extract from government records was sufficient evidence of the right to the land. Note that this Act is now widely considered repealed under current Indian law.
