0. Preamble
Preamble. AN ACT to establish and incorporate a self-financing Private University under the name of “Sengol International University” in the State of Sikkim and matters connected there with and incidental thereto.
Whereas, to address the growing demand for high quality education in the State, Sengol International University shall be committed to providing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary education that emphasizes academic excellence, critical thinking and ethical values. The University shall aim to create world class, futuristic, student-centric and outcome focused institution of excellence. It further aims to provide theoretical understanding with practical experiences to prepare its vibrant students to face real-life challenges and social realities with confidence. It shall impart cutting-edge knowledge to its students to make them global citizen;
And whereas, Sengol International University in Sikkim shall be sponsored by Late Smt. Lal Muni Devi Jankalyan Mahasamiti with a view to providing emphasis on high quality education supplemented with industrial internship and professional training, relevant education in the area of Education, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Technology, Medical Science and Paramedical Science, Management, Technical, Finance and Accounting, Commerce, Humanities, Languages and Communication, Applied and Performing Arts,

A SCHEDULE A
- (1) Acquire not less than 10 acres of land for its main Campus, within five years after starting the functioning of the University. An integrated campus may have certain facilities in common such as auditorium, cafeteria, hostels, etc. Hence the land requirement may vary accordingly.
- (2) Construct administrative building of at least 1,000 square metres, academic building including library, lecture theatres, laboratories of at least 10,000 square metres, adequate residential accommodations for teachers, guest houses, hostels which shall gradually be increased to accommodate at least 25% of the total student strength in each course within 5 years of its coming into existence. In case the University is conducting professional programmes of study, prevailing norms and standards of respective statutory body shall be applicable. Existing institutes must undertake expansion/renovation/restructuring to meet the prescribed norms of the State Government.
