Statutory text

(1) There shall be an established and incorporated University by the name of the Nirmala Devi University at Sikkim.
(2) The University shall situate at Singtam and have its headquarters in Gangtok District, Sikkim.
(3) The first Chancellor and the first Vice-Chancellor of the University and the first members of the Governing Body, Board of Management and the Academic Council and all persons, who may hereafter become such officers or members, so long as they continue to hold such office or membership, are hereby constituted a body corporate by the name of the Nirmala Devi University, Sikkim.
(4) The University shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall sue and be sued by the said name.
(5) The University shall start operation only after the State Government issues the letter of Authorization.
(6) The University shall follow all the Rules, Regulations, guidelines and other criteria issued by the regulating bodies and the State Government.
(7) The University shall meet the conditions mentioned in the Schedule "A" of the Act within the stipulated time.
