Management of Society
The Sikkim Coperative Socities Act, 1978(1) The management of every society shall vest in a committee constituted in accordance with the bye-laws. (2) No person shall be eligible to be elected as a member of a committee unless he is a member of the society. (3) No member of a society shall be eligible for being elected as a member of the committee of that society or of any other society to which such society is affiliated, if such member - (a) has been adjudged by a competent court to be insolvent or of unsound mind; (b) is concerned or participates in the profits of any contract with the society; (c) has been punished with imprisonment for an offence involving moral turpitude; (d) has been in default in payment of his dues to the society for a continuous period of three months from the due date or any extended period thereof; (e) carries the business of the same kind carried on by the society. (4) A member of the committee of a society shall cease to be a member of such committee if he becomes subject to any of the disqualifications mentioned in sub-section (3) and the vacancy so arising in the committee shall be filled in accordance with the bye-laws.
