Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act
The Rajasthan Bovine Animal ( Prohibition of Slaughter & Regulation of Temprorary Migration or Export ) Act, 1995
This Act bans the slaughter of bovine animals, specifically cows, calves, heifers, bulls, and bullocks, along with the sale, possession, and transport of beef in Rajasthan. It applies to everyone within the state, including livestock owners and transporters, who face strict prison sentences and vehicle confiscation for violations. The law also regulates the export and temporary migration of these animals, permitting movement during famines only with official approval. This legislation matters because it legally protects cattle, penalizes animal cruelty, and tightly controls the commercial trade and movement of bovine livestock to preserve the state's agricultural economy.
