The Rajasthan Shops And Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2026
1. 1. Short title and commencement.-
(1) This Act may be called the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2026. (2) It shall be deemed to have been come into force on and from 17th December, 2025.
2. 2. Amendment of section 2, Rajasthan Act No. 31 of 1958.-
In the definition of “apprentice” in section 2 of the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 (Act No. 31 of 1958), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, for the existing expression “a person, aged not less than twelve years”, the expression “a person, aged not less than fourteen years” shall be substituted.
3. 3. Amendment of section 7, Rajasthan Act No. 31 of 1958.-
In section 7 of the principal Act,- (i) in sub-section (1),- (a) for the existing expression “nine hours”, the expression “ten hours” shall be substituted; (b) in the second proviso, for the existing expression “exceed fifty”, the expression “exceed one hundred forty four” shall be substituted; (ii) in sub-section (2), for the existing expression “twelve and fifteen”, the expression “fourteen and eighteen” shall be substituted. (1) The Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 (Ordinance No. 3 of 2025) is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, all things done, actions taken or orders made under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done, taken or made under this Act.
4. 4. Amendment of section 9, Rajasthan Act No. 31 of 1958.-
In section 9 of the principal Act, for the existing word "five", wherever occurring, the word "six" shall be substituted.
5. 5. Amendment of section 21, Rajasthan Act No. 31 of 1958.-
In section 21 of the principal Act, for the existing word "twelve", the word "fourteen" shall be substituted.
6. 6. Amendment of section 22, Rajasthan Act No. 31 of 1958.-
In section 22 of the principal Act, for the existing expression "child between the ages of 12 and 15", the expression "child between the ages of fourteen and eighteen" shall be substituted.
