The Rajasthan Housing Schemes (Land Acquisition) Act, 1960

Civil19603 sections

The Rajasthan Housing Schemes (Land Acquisition) Act, 1960, regulates how the state government, local authorities, and approved housing companies acquire land for public housing projects. It applies to landowners in Rajasthan whose plots are taken, excluding any existing buildings on that land. This law matters because it temporarily reduced land acquisition costs for twenty years to make public housing development much more affordable. It achieved this by capping landowner compensation and assessing the property value at either the acquisition date or the much earlier December 12, 1953, market rate, whichever was lower, while also removing the standard additional bonus payment.
