The Rajasthan Civil Courts Laws (Extension) Act, 1956

Civil19567 sections

The Rajasthan Civil Courts Laws (Extension) Act, 1956 standardized the civil court system across the newly reorganized state of Rajasthan. Following the 1956 reorganization of Indian states, territories such as Abu, Ajmer, and Sunel were merged into Rajasthan. This law extended uniform state judicial ordinances to these newly integrated regions while repealing their previous local court laws. It preserved existing judicial proceedings, transferred powers to corresponding new judicial authorities, and redesignated judicial officers, such as transitioning subordinate judges to civil judges. This act ensured a seamless transition, legal continuity, and a consistent judicial structure for all residents throughout Rajasthan.
